Co. District Under 14 Championship final 2010

West Kerry 3-13 East Kerry 3-6

West Kerry defended their county title on Wednesday, the 23rd June in Beaufort. Since this championship was incepted in 1996, this title eluded West Kerry. Now remarkably they have achieved two in a row.
West Kerry had an easy path to the final defeating Castleisland District in Castleisland, St. Brendan's at home in Dingle; and in the semi final they defeated South Kerry in Beaufort.
The final was a different story however as East Kerry put up stern resistance and threw everything they had at the boys from the West. Lady luck shone on West Kerry as two goal chances went a begging for East Kerry in the first quarter. Gradually West Kerry's skill and footballing know how came to the fore. Eventually, after a physical battle the West ran out deserving winners. Barry O Sullivan (Dingle) was presented with the trophy and Barry gave a gracious speech as Gaelainn.
West Kerry were managed by Pól O Cuinn (An Ghaeltacht) and he was ably assisted by selectors; Colm O H-Ainniféin (Lispole), John O Connor (Dingle), John Kennedy (Annascaul) and Pat Moriarty (Castlegregory).
A feature of the campaign was that all clubs in the West Kerry board rallied behind the team and each club hosted at least one training session for the squad. Special thanks to the Dingle Credit Union who sponsored a set of jerseys for the final. Thanks also to Micheál O Grífín (Lispole) and Brian O Mórán (An Ghaeltacht) who helped out in reffing internal games amongst the squad.
West Kerry coiste na n-óg would also like to thank the West Kerry senior board for their assistance in the build up to the final.
Scorers in final; Barry O Sullivan (0-6), Tomás O Sé (1-0), Robeárd O Sé (1-0), Tom Sullivan (1-2), Cathal Bambury (0-2), Mike Mulally, Conor Geaney & Mark O Connor (0-1) each
